Martin Scruff

 

Twenty years ago, when Martin was just shy of his tenth birthday, his father resigned in disrepute his post as city mayor. No one explained to young Martin why his father had to resign and the event has seemingly been washed from the city's memory. Despite searching for answers, he's never been able to find the reason for his father's resignation.

Martin has always harbored an intense curiosity, genius level math skills and an ability to see the truth of things when others can't. The fact that this gift hadn't helped answer one of the biggest questions of his life frustrated him beyond measure. So, when he dreamed of his now deceased father inviting him to a meeting on one of the city's piers, he went as soon as he woke. There, he encountered agents of The Estate and witnessed their power as they battled something that was clearly not of Earth. His own abilities revealed themselves as the powers on display threatened to blast him to smithereens. Those agents brought him in and he joined the organization without a second thought, convinced that he would find the answers he so craved.

Working for The Estate promises to be a fulfilling endeavor for Martin, but he has a tough time connecting with his team mates, for the most part. One of them, however, has shown a keen interest in his math skills and, while he enjoys the attention, he's not sure if this team member is fascinated by him, or deeply disturbed.
